Documentation of the research data base "Disiecta Membra" V 1.0
The research database documented in these files serves to record and link research data in the long-term project "Disiecta Membra. Stone Architecture and Urbanism in Roman Germany", which is funded as part of the Academies' Programme. The database itself represents an internal working environment for the project, from which data is subsequently exported and published on the platforms iDAI.objects/Arachne and Propylaeum-VITAE, among others. On the one hand, these files serve as technical documentation of the database for its users and developers, but on the other hand, they are also aimed at researchers who want to record artefacts of Roman stone architecture, knowledge practices, or actors in the history of research in their work and want to use the models and standards developed in "Disiecta Membra" as a guide. The project currently uses a relational database that is realised with the no-code, open source solution baserow. However, we endeavour to be independent from specific technologies: The basic schema can be implemented in any relational database, and we also plan to publish the conceptual data model and a project-specific ontology that references the CIDOC CRM as a foundational model in the near future. The documentation contains two files: A textual documentation of the implementation in the baserow database (currently only in German) A dbml-file describing the structure of the database; the resulting visualization of this structure can be found here
