CAMPHOROSMA MONSPELIAVA L. (synonym Lessingii LITV. - A VALUABLE FODDER PLANT FOR RECLAMATION OF SALINE AND DROUGHT-PRONE AGRICULTURAL LANDSCAPES
This article presents recent findings on the status of natural populations of Camphorosma as a valuable wild fodder salt-loving species that grows in deserts and semi-deserts of Uzbekistan and around Issyk-kuli Lake in Kyrgyzstan. Camphorosma seeds and seedlings were planted on hypersaline soils in Karabuga (Karakalpakstan) in a mixed halophytic farming system. Cultivation technology, forage biomass accumulation and seed yield of Camphorosma on highly saline soils were documented. Practical recommendations for rangeland conservation and management using Camphorosma have been proposed.
