Agro-Tourism an Opportunity for New Tourism Market in Maharashtra: A Case Study of Abhishek Mala Agro-Tourism Center, Pakani (Solapur)
Abstract: Agro-tourism plays a huge role in the activation of rural areas. Its position and market power affect several external components and mechanisms and although its positive impact on the economic and social development of the rural areas is noticeable. An important aspect is to strengthen awareness of local communities concerning benefits resulting from the development of this non-agricultural source of income. Only then will it trigger a multiplier effect that will eventually lead to a reduction of unemployment, job creation in sectors serving tourists, and improve both the living standards and working conditions of the population actively involved? Enhancing the visibility of rural values, processing, traditional crafts, and rural buildings can become a powerful magnet for tourists. The benefits of the development of agro-tourism can become real if there is visible involvement and close cooperation between both service providers and local authorities. The objective of the proposed study is to report how the economic development and standard of people involved in agro-tourism have been altered by the research work. Moreover, the study also entails making recommendations for improvement of the specific tourist point studied. The important observation of the study is that the design, implementation, and promotion of the agro-tourism center should encourage potential tourists to "see" more than just the product or the wonderful view but actually be willing to experience, be impacted, and even a little changed by the experience of engaging with the rural community.
