Assessing Consumer Awareness on Sustainable Practices in Online Food Delivery

Abstract: The study aims to assess consumer awareness regarding sustainable practices in online food delivery services and to identify factors influencing their choices. A qualitative approach was employed, and data was collected via interviews. The sample included 14 participants in the Delhi-NCR region who regularly use online food delivery services. The results indicate a moderate level of awareness among consumers about sustainable practices, with significant variations based on age, education, and frequency of usage. Key factors influencing sustainable choices included packaging materials, delivery methods, and the transparency of companies regarding their sustainability efforts. This research contributes to the limited literature on consumer behaviour in the context of online food delivery, highlighting the need for increased awareness and transparency from service providers to promote sustainable practices within the industry. Keywords: Sustainability, Consumer Awareness, Online Food Delivery, Environmental Impact JEL Classification Number: D12, Q56
