32. സമകലന മലയളസനമയകക ഒരമഖ
New Generation Cinema refers to films made in Malayalam after 2000 that have brought changes and new experiments in form, language and storytelling. The caste-religion-gender distinctions, and the representation of marginalized communities in a way that was not present in mainstream films of the past are the hallmarks of New Generation Cinema. New Generation Cinema, which is diverse in terms of themes, has created a large fan base for Malayalam cinema both inside and outside Kerala. Women-centric, homosexuality and trans community issues have become themes and characters in Malayalam cinema. They are marking the beginning of something new for the difficult filmmaking ecosystem in Kerala.
