ENGLISH AS THE GLOBAL LANGUAGE OF ACCOUNTING: IMPLICATIONS FOR NON-NATIVE SPEAKERS
With an increasingly integrated global economy, the demand for a shared financial language has become more pressing than ever. English has stepped up to fill this requirement, emerging as the global language of accounting and finance. Here, we discuss the historical justification for such hegemony, outline the challenges and opportunities this presents for non-native speakers of English, and offer general recommendations for eliminating current disparities. Through discussion of real experience, systemic issues, and human-centered solutions, the article tries to demonstrate the urgent necessity for a more inclusive global accounting world. More emphasis is placed on historical context, real-world consequences, and visionary insights.
