Prātaḥsmaraṇastotram - A Morning Prayer

॥ प्रातःस्मरणस्तोत्रम् ॥ prātaḥsmaraṇastotram A Morning Prayer Summary Dawn is the best time to focus your mind on the deities you worship. These morning prayers are called prātaḥ smaraṇa. In this prayer, the deities invoked are the key deities of Sarvāmnāya practice, the esoteric tantric tradition that integrates all the deities from the Kaula and Samaya orders in a hierarchy of practice. The supreme deity here is a fusion of both Shiva and Shakti, that is identified as the feet of Guru, as red and white drops, replete with all potential external forms even though nothing external has yet emerged in this integration of Shiva and Shakti. This state is described as the mere luminosity of Absolute Shiva nature that is always and eternally free from defilements, even though it constitutes the external principles by assuming difference imposed by time and space. The deities summoned in the heart in this early morning meditation are Tripurā with the color of the aurora dawn, Kālī, the goddess Parā with the shine of the moon, and Kubjika. Accordingly, the deity Kālasaṅkarṣiṇī is visualized resting on Manthānabhairava, the fearsome form of Śhiva that churns all the externalized forms and offers them to Kālī to transform into pure consciousness. The morning prayer culminates with the visualization of the two feet of Guru, abstracted as red and white drops, beyond words and of the form of pure consciousness, manifest in the form of these Śāṃbhava deities.
