Markerless Analysis of Upper Limb Deficits After Cervical Spinal Cord Injury: Preliminary Results

Recent advances in markerless pose estimation enable the analysis of human motion from video. However, their applicability in neurological populations is underexplored. This study evaluated MediaPipe Pose algorithm for assessing arm movements in 12 individuals with C5-C7 spinal injuries and 12 controls during the Arm Stabilization Test, comparing results to a traditional stereophotogrammetric system. Both methods showed significant movement difficulties in SCI participants, highlighting the potential of markerless systems for non-invasive clinical assessments.
