DVMM - A Frontend Architecture Pattern for Scalable and Maintainable TypeScript Applications
DVMM (Domain-View Model Mapper) is a frontend architecture pattern designed to improve the scalability, testability, and maintainability of TypeScript applications. It introduces a clean separation between backend data contracts (Domain Models) and UI-facing representations (View Models), connected through pure, deterministic mappers. This whitepaper outlines the DVMM pattern, its core components, folder structure, and implementation strategy. It discusses key benefits such as type safety, isolation from backend changes, improved developer experience, and support for large-scale team collaboration. DVMM is particularly useful in projects that interface with dynamic APIs or practice Backend-for-Frontend (BFF) architecture. By adopting DVMM, teams can build frontend applications that are resilient to change, easy to test, and architecturally sound — while maintaining a consistent developer workflow across evolving codebases.
