OpenFOAM script along with RheoTool package to perform the viscoelastic fluid simulations related to the article, "Suppression and augmentation in Worthington liquid jet height due to fluid elasticity"

This is an OpenFOAM (version 7) script, which also includes the RheoTool package (version 6) to run the viscoelastic simulations modeled using the Oldroyd-B viscoelastic model. The recently developed two-phase solver rheoInterFoam is utilized here to simulate a liquid droplet impacting on a deep liquid pool. Both the liquid droplet and the liquid pool are considered viscoelastic in nature, while the surrounding air is treated as a Newtonian fluid. The influence of increasing elasticity (quantified using the non-dimensional number, Weissenberg number) has been studied in detail. To deal with the High Weissenberg Number Problem (HWNP), log-conformation methodology has also been incorporated in the simulation setup to stabilize the numerical results. In particular, after the drop impacts the liquid pool, a crater is formed, followed by the formation of a liquid jet, which is popularly known as the Worthington liquid jet. Interestingly, as the extent of fluid elasticity is increased, the Worthington liquid jet height first decreases, reaches a minimum, and then again starts to increase to reach higher values than the Newtonian counterpart. Therefore, a non-monotonic trend exists in the maximum values of the Worthington liquid jet height as the extent of fluid elasticity is increased.
