A Comparative Clinical Study of Guduchi Kwath and Kiratatikta Kwath to Increase the Platelet Count in Dengue Fever
Abstract: The incidence of dengue fever is rising annually due to changing lifestyles, dietary habits, and rapid urbanization with poor sanitation. It is increasingly prevalent in developing countries, and no known modern medicine effectively increases platelet count in dengue. Guduchi Kwath improves platelet count, lowers fever, relieves maculopapular rash, and acts as an antiallergic and antihistaminic. Kiratatikta Kwath also enhances platelet count, reduces fever, and alleviates symptoms like headache, arthralgia, myalgia, skin rash, and itching. We evaluate the efficacy of Guduchi Kwath and Kiratatikta Kwath in increasing platelet count in dengue fever. 120 patients (18-70 years) were divided into three groups: Group A (Guduchi Kwath), Group B (Kiratatikta Kwath), and Group C (control). Both formulations increased platelet count, with Guduchi Kwath showing superior efficacy. Guduchi Kwath statistically outperformed Kiratatikta Kwath and control groups.
