Abstract

In Article V, Section 1 of the 1987 Philippine Constitution, it is specified that suffrage is a right granted to all citizens of the Philippines who are not disqualified by law. Suffrage entails the privilege to participate in public elections, whether local or national, by voting and being a candidate under certain conditions. The election of public officials in the Philippines is considered a significant event, drawing voters' attention to sociocultural issues, which are integral to the democratic process. Elections are commonly viewed as the embodiment of public will and the exercise of the people's sovereign authority in modern democratic societies. Understanding the factors and strategies influencing voting behavior in elections is crucial to comprehending the dynamics of selecting political candidates and the impact of voter choices on them.
