Impact of air pollution on asthma
The most prevalent chronic respiratory condition and a significant public health issue is asthma. Many studies have shown that air pollutants are involved in the start and exacerbations of asthma, even if the causal association between air pollution and asthma is still debatable. Using the PubMed, Scopus, and Web of Science databases, we performed a keyword search-based literature review to find articles whose titles or abstracts contained preset terms. In addition to outlining current strategies and interventions for pollution damage reduction, this narrative review addresses the evidence now available regarding the pathogenic impacts of pollution throughout life and the mechanisms underlying the start, progression, and exacerbation of asthma. To improve air quality, further international initiatives are still required.
