Flipped Classroom Gamification for Anxiety Management and Learning Outcome Improvement in Level 1 Ayurveda Undergraduates

This study explores how Constructive Alignment (CA) and teaching strategies addressing both intrinsic and extrinsic motivation can improve learning outcomes and reduce anxiety in undergraduate Ayurveda education. A flipped classroom model was implemented with 180 Level 1 students, combining video-based instruction with interactive group activities focused on clinical scenario enactments. Gamified testing with re-attempt options was used to assess cognitive performance and confidence. Results showed reduced self-reported anxiety in over 80% of students and a pass rate of 49.3% on analytical MCQs, indicating improved basic conceptual learning. However, a 14.1% non-attendance rate suggests the need to address access and engagement barriers. Overall, the approach shows promise for creating a more inclusive and effective Ayurveda learning environment.
