PATRIOTISM AND PROFESSIONAL OBLIGATION: WHAT INFLUENCES THE MOTIVATION OF MEDICAL STUDENTS?
The article is dedicated to analyzing the relationship between patriotism and professional duty as key factors shaping the motivation of medical students in today's environment. Special attention is given to how these values influence their professional activities and willingness to serve their country, especially during crises such as war or a pandemic. Patriotism, as a sense of deep responsibility to the state, often drives students to actively participate in volunteer and humanitarian missions, providing medical assistance to victims and supporting society in difficult times. Medical students stand out among other youth groups due to their high level of responsibility, moral principles, and ethical standards, which are an integral part of their training. The long and intensive educational process, which includes both theoretical knowledge and practical skills, instills in them a deep understanding of their professional duty. This awareness is reinforced by the need for continuous self-improvement and the readiness to help others, even under significant risks. Volunteer activities play a special role in the lives of medical students and have become an important supplement to their education. During wartime, many of them join medical missions and provide aid to both military personnel and civilians, gaining unique practical experience that shapes their professional and civic consciousness. Thus, the article emphasizes that the combination of patriotism and professional duty is a powerful motivating force for medical students. It not only drives them toward personal and professional growth but also inspires them to contribute actively to the development and defense of their country, which is especially important in current crisis conditions. The motivation of medical students is rooted in a deep understanding of their calling and the importance of their work for society, making them an integral part of the national recovery process and the response to the challenges Ukraine faces.
