Uniting Metadata, Data, and Software Repositories in Contemporary Research Workflows
In modern science, data management plays a central role. The rapid progress in numerous research fields has led to an exponential increase in the volume of data generated. This data must be efficiently managed, archived, and made accessible to ensure the reproducibility of results and the reuse of data. A solid data management strategy is therefore essential to ensure the quality and integrity of scientific work and to promote collaboration across different disciplines. The Helmholtz-Zentrum Dresden-Rossendorf (HZDR) has been working for some time on establishing and expanding a coherent, cross-disciplinary data ecosystem to support good research data management in the long term. The overarching aim of this system is to optimally support scientists at the HZDR in the management of their research data throughout its entire data life cycle in order to ensure the high quality of research results in terms of maximum traceability and usability and in compliance with the FAIR principles.
