"Saving the Olympic fire in Athens": evaluation in higher education through an educative breakout

Abstract: Introduction: In the current educational context, it is common to implement innovative experiences in the teaching-learning process. One of the most prominent is gamification. One of the most popular ways to implement gamification are escape rooms or educational breakouts. Objectives: Given the potential of breakouts in higher education, the objective of this communication is to design a didactic evaluation proposal for the subject "Athletics I: Basic Principles and Teaching", within the degree in Physical Activity and Sports Sciences at the University of Seville. Results and Discussion: Throughout the work, the different elements of the didactic proposal are presented, based on the gamification methodology and, specifically, on an educational breakout: participants, formal elements, theme, resources, objectives and evolution of the activity, core, and narrative, all adapted to the contents and specific competencies of the subject. Conclusions: This evaluation proposal contributes to the internalization of the learning acquired in the subject and to give greater significance to the evaluation for the student, transforming this process into a learning tool and the development of critical thinking, motivation, and student involvement. This proposal includes all the athletic modalities practiced during the semester and presents active challenges that will make them put into practice the learning acquired through sports practice.
