The Policy Effect: Women Entrepreneurs in India

Abstract In the current global environment, there has been much attention toward women entrepreneurship. India is one of them, even though the sector still lags behind in growth with such issues as societal norms, limited access to finance, and regulatory barriers impacting women entrepreneurs uniquely. The study shall now investigate whether the government policies of India positively impact women entrepreneurs, considering some of the key initiatives: National Policy for Women (2016), Startup India (2016), Stand-Up India (2016), Mudra Yojana (2015), and Women Entrepreneurship Platform (2018). These policies are meant to increase women's entrepreneurship by providing financial support, training, and networking. In the following all-inclusive examination of these initiatives, it could well be realized that such an endeavor essentially does help women in dealing with the challenges they confront in entrepreneurships. The current study has emphasized the role played by the government policies in creating an enablerly environment for women entrepreneurs. The analysis therefore indicates that these policies have made women gain access to greater credit and finance, improved training and capacity-building as well as entrepreneurial confidence. Challenges continue to arise and highlight an effective implementation, an overcoming of existing barriers, and continuous monitoring. Policy frameworks, access to finance, training and capacity building, and societal norms and stereotypes are recommended. This piece of research contributes to the ongoing discourse on women's entrepreneurship and gives due prominence to the role that government policies play in entrepreneurial growth and social change in India. With this understanding of policy impact by policymakers, practitioners, and researchers, possibility of collaboration toward women entrepreneurship empowerment has been opened up, which may fuel the growth of economies and enhance social development. This research provides policymakers, entrepreneurs, and stakeholders with insight into the importance of collaborative efforts for women entrepreneurship promotion in India.
