A DISCRIPTIONAL CROSS SECTIONAL STUDY OF ROAD TRAFFIC ACCIDENT PRESENTING IN THE EMERGENCY DEPARTMENT
Road traffic accidents (RTAs) are a significant and growing public health concern globally, particularly in low- and middle-income countries like India. With rapid urbanization, increased motorization, and insufficient road safety enforcement, India records some of the highest rates of road traffic injuries and fatalities in the world. Young adults, motorcyclists, and vulnerable road users are disproportionately affected. Understanding the epidemiology of RTAs is essential to inform prevention strategies and improve trauma care services.
