Priesthoods in Ptolemaic Thebes (Luxor)

The priesthoods in Ptolemaic Thebes (modern-day Luxor) consisted of several groups of religious personnel. The most important group of priests was the high clergy of Amun who worked in the temple of Karnak. Other groups of priests were attached to several temple and necropolis cults on the east bank, including the mortuary priests taking care of the mummification and mortuary cult of the deceased. Even though these various groups of priests are often seen as separate entities, many professional and personal connections existed between them.
