This species has an overwhelming abundance of records and collected specimens (Gonçalves et al., 2017; Romero, 2017; Rippel et al., 2019; Almeida & Bispo, 2020; De Carvalho et al., 2021; Deprá et al., 2023). Pictet (1841) described the species based on a male, whose penial armature was illustrated by Zwick (1972). Subtle differences are found between populations of A. debilis in Brazil (Novaes & Bispo, 2014; De Carvalho et al., 2021), and as multiple authors have repeatedly stated, a comprehensive review of this species is necessary. While the holotype is in precarious condition, the penial armature has been dissected and is still intact (Fig. 1). A range-wide review of A. debilis is out of the scope of these notes.
