TRANSFORMATIONAL LEADERSHIP AS REMEDIATION TO ADDRESS CORRUPTION

ABSTRACT This paper examines the potential of transformational leadership as an effective strategy for combating corruption within organizations and society at large. Transformational leadership is distinguished by its emphasis on inspiring and motivating followers toward a collective vision, fostering ethical behavior, and promoting transparency. The study explores how transformational leaders can shape organizational culture, cultivate an environment of trust, and encourage accountability—essential components in mitigating corrupt practices. Furthermore, it delves into the mechanisms through which transformational leadership can enhance moral and ethical decision-making, bolster organizational integrity, and facilitate systemic change. By analyzing various case studies and theoretical frameworks, the paper posits that when implemented effectively, transformational leadership can be a powerful tool for remediation, addressing not only the symptoms of corruption but also its underlying causes. The findings indicate that embracing principles of transformational leadership represents a strategic approach to cultivating sustainable ethical practices and advancing long-term reform within both organizations and society.
