A REABILITAÇÃO NEUROPSICOLÓGICA NOS CASOS DE EPILEPSIA INFANTIL
In recent years, the world has been experiencing considerable growth in cases of epilepsy. It is understood that the pathology is not a new phenomenon and has already been described at different times in history. Given this scenario of evolution, it is identified that half of the cases of epileptic syndromes begin in childhood, in children under 5 years of age. Early diagnosis of epilepsy has a major impact on the lives of children and family members. Patients who do not receive adequate treatment can cause harm in various areas of their lives, with repercussions on their behavior and learning. In these cases, the importance of this brain mapping can be seen, in order to verify which cortical areas are preserved and which are affected, and thus allow the multidisciplinary team to carry out the necessary interventions in the best possible way within each specificity. Therefore, this study offers the following research problem: How does neuropsychological rehabilitation occur in cases of childhood epilepsy? Thus, the general objective is to investigate how neuropsychological rehabilitation occurs in cases of childhood epilepsy. Thus, the specific objectives are: 1) understand the historical context of epilepsy; 2) study current childhood epilepsy; 3) describe how neuropsychological rehabilitation occurs in cases of childhood epilepsy. The justification for this problem will be due to the lack of information available in the literature on this subject, parallel to the urgency of discussions on the topic. Keywords: Neuropsychological rehabilitation. Childhood epilepsy. Neuropsychology.
