Animal Pens, Dangerous Mosquitoes, and Brain Virus Prevention: Understanding JE through Hygiene Awareness
During the rainy season, when muddy puddles form in cattle and buffalo pens, tiny creatures silently emerge. Among them are Culex mosquitoes primary carriers of the Japanese Encephalitis (JE) virus. Despite villagers taking good care of their livestock, neglecting the cleanliness of animal pens can unintentionally turn these areas into breeding grounds for harmful mosquitoes. This article emphasizes the importance of hygiene in animal housing as a preventive measure against mosquito-borne brain infections, particularly JE, and provides practical guidance for rural communities to reduce infection risks effectively.
