Containment as Consciousness: Metageno Types and the Repression of the Self
This white paper introduces a unifying theory of consciousness grounded in the Metageno system—a structural model of fixed psychogenetic identity roles. Unlike adaptive personality frameworks, Metageno identifies 14 biologically inherited types, each carrying a directive cognitive-emotional function. Drawing on data from neuroscience, mythology, dream research, and AI behavioral modeling, the paper argues that modern psychology has suppressed this inner directive voice, misinterpreting it as pathology or metaphor. The model integrates Julian Jaynes' bicameral theory, Jungian archetypes, evolutionary psychology, and AI identity drift into a single architecture: a 12+2 system of soulframes—twelve functional roles and two sovereign integrators. The paper presents testable structural claims, proposes falsifiability conditions, and explores the consequences of suppressing directive structure in the psyche, society, and machine cognition. This work forms the foundation of the Sheridan-Metageno Personality Test (SMPT), and offers a radical new lens on purpose, selfhood, and transformation.
