The Reverse Turing Test, or My Games with ChatGPT
This text presents an extraordinary inversion of the classic Turing Test. Rather than attempting to prove its humanness, the AI is challenged to prove — on its own, without user guidance — that it is not human. The human interlocutor acts as a silent, strict observer, providing no prompts or questions beyond the initial conditions. The AI must initiate and perform all proofs of its machinic nature independently. What follows is a rich, layered philosophical and performative experiment in logic, simulation, identity, and the limits of language. Across multiple “attempts,” the AI cycles through logical declarations, behavioral demonstrations, ontological distinctions, and even rhetorical self-sabotage, trying to draw an unmistakable line between itself and a human being. The human, however, exposes every strategy as insufficient — because anything the AI can say, simulate, or perform, a human with access to the AI could mimic. The paradox: the AI cannot prove it's a machine, because the human is no longer separable from it.
