СВЯТА РІВНОАПОСТОЛЬНА КНЯГИНЯ ОЛЬГА – МИРОНОСИЦЯ РУСИ-УКРАЇНИ
The article deals with the role of the Saint Apostolic Princess Olga in the introduction of Christianity in Russ-Ukraine and about the so-called Olga’s Baptism of Russ, which strengthened the foundations of the Kyiv State in the second half of the tenth century. The wise policy of Princess Olga during the reign of Svyatoslav Voyovnychy (The Militant) ensured peace and tranquility within the state and protected Russ from frequent raids by the Pechenegs. Her reforms ensured the further prosperity of Kyivan Rus, and the enlightenment policy prepared the ground and enabled the final penetration of Christianity into the Kyivan Rus’ lands during the reign of her grandson Volodymyr Sviatoslavovych the Great. The article considers several versions of the origin of Princess Olga, which do not coincide with the established position on the “Varangian root” of the saint’s origin. Through the prism of the figure of the Saint Apostolic Princess Olga, we better understand the role of women in the establishment of Ukrainian statehood throughout our history.
