CHILDHOOD ADVERSITY AND ADULT RELATIONSHIPS: A COMPREHENSIVE ANALYSIS
Abstract This research paper explores the profound impact of childhood adversity on adult relationships. Childhood adversity encompasses a range of negative experiences during formative years, including various forms of abuse, neglect, household dysfunction, and socioeconomic challenges. The study examines how these early life experiences shape individuals' ability to form and maintain healthy relationships in adulthood. By analyzing existing literature and research, this paper aims to elucidate the mechanisms through which childhood adversity influences attachment styles, emotional regulation, and interpersonal dynamics in adult relationships. The findings underscore the importance of early intervention and support for children experiencing adversity, as well as the need for targeted therapeutic approaches for adults grappling with the long-term effects of childhood trauma.
