The Role of Vaccination in Preventing Infectious Diseases
Infectious disease has been the greatest threat to human health and well-being over centuries. Throughout the last century, the use of vaccines greatly reduced morbidity and mortality caused by most infectious diseases such as polio, measles, and smallpox. Vaccination not only protects individuals but also prevents disease transmission, mainly to those who are unable to receive vaccines due to age or health status. Despite this, lack of information and unequal access still hinder immunization globally.
