IKS and EdTech: A Winning Combination for Rural India
Abstract: This will be revolutionary in rural development, one with sustainable progress and community empowerment. Indian Knowledge Systems are rooted in indigenous wisdom. Solutions to various problems have long been time tested in agriculture, healthcare, environmental conservation, and education. The EdTech has modern tools with the purpose of enhancing accessibility, engagement, and scalability of knowledge. The paper explores the synergistic potential of these two domains in bridging educational gaps, preserving traditional wisdom, and fostering self-reliance in rural communities. To further document, disseminate, and revitalize indigenous knowledge using modern channels of communication, digital platforms, AI-driven learning tools, and interactive pedagogies, EdTech can facilitate easy access to this knowledge during contemporary education and rural livelihoods. The paper discusses successful case studies where digital tools have been utilized to preserve traditional farming techniques, indigenous medicinal practices, and local governance models to show the practical impact on rural sustainability. In addition, it addresses the policy interventions as well as community-initiated programs that facilitate the adoption of technology-enhanced IKS-based education in rural schools and training centers. Although highly potential, challenges include digital literacy gaps, infrastructure, and cultural resistance that can limit the achievement of integrated EdTech use in these sectors. Paper strategies are proposed to reduce these barriers, particularly in the form of inclusive policymaking, local solutions for EdTech interventions, and participatory engagement of communities in meaningful implementation. This research, therefore, combines tradition and technology, pointing to the possibilities of transforming rural education, improving livelihoods, and contributing to comprehensive rural transformation through the integration of IKS with EdTech.
