SNUMBOOK AS HOME TASKS FOR AN ENHANCED NUMERACY LEVEL OF GRADE 7 STUDENTS

This study examines the effectiveness of SNUMBOOK, a home task tool, for non-numerate Grade 7 students at Guinayang National High School in San Mateo Suboffice, Division of Rizal, for the SY 2023-2024. It addressed the identification of least mastered numeracy topics, evaluates SNUMBOOK's content, format, presentation, organization, and accuracy by parents, teachers, and experts, and analyzes the differences in these evaluations. The study also assessed student engagement—cognitive, behavioral, emotional, and social—before and after using SNUMBOOK, and measures the pretest and posttest performance of students. Methodologically, a descriptive and quasi-experimental one-group pretest-posttest design was employed, involving 60 evaluators and 30 students. Data were gathered using questionnaires and pretest-posttest assessments, analyzed using statistical methods such as mean percentage, Wilcoxon Signed Rank Test, Kruskal-Wallis Test, and Spearman's Rho. Results indicated significant improvement in numeracy and engagement levels post-intervention. SNUMBOOK was highly rated across all evaluative criteria with no significant differences among respondent groups. The engagement levels increased significantly, correlating positively with academic performance. Enhanced practice, support, and communication were identified as areas of improvement. The study concludes that SNUMBOOK effectively enhanced numeracy and engagement, suggesting its broader implementation and potential adaptation across various disciplines.
