Olga Petrovska - Course portfolio on Algorithms and Automata (Apprenticeship)

This portfolio gives an overview of the Algorithms and Automata module taught at SwanseaUniversity in the academic years 2022/23 and 2023/24. It explores the specifics of teaching com-putational thinking for a degree apprenticeship programme. The key aspect that distinguishes thismodule from similar modules taught as a part of traditional computer science / software engineeringdegrees, is the particularly varied background of our students. While some students are joining theprogramme straight from school, others have substantial work experience in software engineeringand related areas. This diversified background shapes the module and impacts the choice of topicstaught as well as their depth. This portfolio reflects upon the choices made with respect to thecurriculum, teaching methods and assessment.
