THE METHOD OF THE REMONTAGE OF A KNAPPING PRODUCTS IN THE SYSTEM OF EVIDENCE-BASED OF AN ARCHAEOLOGICAL SOURCE

The widespread introduction of experimental tracological studies of ancient artifacts into the archaeology of the Stone Age complements the traditional formal typological analysis of stone products. Currently, the problem of evidence-based interpretation of stone products is being actively studied by Evgeny Girya. The concept is based on the understanding of traces on the surface of stone artifacts as a special type of archaeological source. These are mostly traces of the production and use of tools. In this article, the method of remontage of knapping products is considered from the point of view of an evidence-based interpretation of an archaeological source.

Abstract

The widespread introduction of experimental tracological studies of ancient artifacts into the archaeology of the Stone Age complements the traditional formal typological analysis of stone products. Currently, the problem of evidence-based interpretation of stone products is being actively studied by Evgeny Girya. The concept is based on the understanding of traces on the surface of stone artifacts as a special type of archaeological source. These are mostly traces of the production and use of tools. In this article, the method of remontage of knapping products is considered from the point of view of an evidence-based interpretation of an archaeological source.
