Curriculum Design of the Course "Blockchain for the Environment"

The BC4ECO Curriculum Design of the Course “Blockchain for the Environment” introduces an innovative, interdisciplinary curriculum that prepares students to navigate the complex and decentralised world of DLTs with an environmental focus. The curriculum is structured into two modules with different knowledge levels: Basics of Blockchain for the Environment: A foundational module designed for students from any academic background, providing an introduction to DLT and its potential to foster trust and accountability in environmental preservation. Leverage Blockchain for the Environment: An advanced module aimed at students with a foundational understanding of DLT, focusing on environmental studies, design thinking, and the technical development of DAPPs. The curriculum aims to foster creative, critical, and ecosystem-oriented thinking, equipping students to work to work efficiently within diverse, problem-solving teams. It has been developed to address a range of academic backgrounds, ensuring accessibility to students with little prior knowledge of DLT, while also providing depth for those with technical expertise, particularly in computer science. The course was successfully piloted through two summer schools, providing insights into the coherence of activities and learning goals.
