SUSTAINABLE SOLUTIONS FOR CONVERTING PET INTO 3D PRINTING FILAMENT

: Nowadays, modern technologies such as 3D printing have revolutionized traditional manufacturing methods that we all used to know, providing efficient and customized solutions for a wide range of industrial applications. Along with many materials, polyethylene terephthalate filament or more commonly known as PET, stands out for its superior mechanical properties, such as strength and durability, essential for obtaining quality industrial parts. This article reviews the use of PET and PETG filaments, including the recycled version of PET, highlighting their environmental benefits and performance in 3D printing. Also presents a prototype device that turns PET bottles into filament, thus contributing to the circular economy. The prototyping and development process of this device is detailed, including validation and testing steps, which confirmed its ability to produce high–quality filament. The results obtained demonstrate the recycling potential of PET, promoting a more sustainable and accessible industry, especially for the education of children from disadvantaged backgrounds.
