EFFECTIVENESS OF USING CASE STUDY IN COMPUTER SCIENCE LESSONS TO DEVELOP SKILLS FOR ANALYSIS AND EVALUATION OF PROGRAM CODE
Abstract In the context of the transition to competency-based learning, the development of students' skills in analyzing, evaluating and optimizing information is of particular importance. This is especially relevant in computer science lessons when studying topics related to programming. This article examines a study conducted among 9th-grade students to determine the effectiveness of using the case method (PBL – Problem-Based Learning) when studying the topic "Input and output of elements of a two-dimensional array". The article presents the results of a lesson aimed at developing students' skills in working with arrays, analyzing program code and choosing optimal solutions. The lesson stages, assessment methods and tools used are described, and observations of students' activities are provided. Conclusions are made about the effectiveness of the case method as a teaching strategy that forms critical thinking and meta-subject competencies.
