Critical vision of safety: The best option for cholecystectomy in patients with situs inversus. A case report
Background: Situs inversus is a rare autosomal recessive disease that causes the transposition of organs to the opposite side of normality. Although there is no evidence of a higher incidence of cholelithiasis in this entity, it represents a diagnostic and therapeutic confusion factor, so the methods of thought and operation must be reconsidered. This routine procedure for the general surgeon can be a challenge since there is no formally described technique. We present two cases of laparoscopic cholecystectomy in situs inversus totalis successfully performed following the critical view of safety proposed by Dr. Strasberg. KEYWORDS: Situs Inversus, Cholecystectomy, Critical view of safety, Strasberg.
