In-silico models for the toxicity prediction of Disinfection By-Products (DBPs) resulting from disinfection processes in drinking water treatment plants (DWTPs)
EU freshwater resources are increasingly at risk, with many surface waters failing to meet good ecological and chemical standards. Drinking water treatment plants face challenges in managing Disinfection By-products (DBPs) formed during disinfection. While many DBPs are unregulated, in-silico models are being developed to assess their potential hazards. To help prioritize DBPs for further testing, two (Q)SAR models have been developed within the NIAGARA project: one for the prediction of carcinogenicity and another for the prediction of genotoxicity.
