EFFECT OF COOPERATIVE SOCIETIES ON BUSINESS PERFORMANCE OF SMALL AND MEDIUM SCALE ENTERPRISES IN EKITI STATE

The study examined the effect of cooperative societies on business performance of small and medium scale enterprises in Ekiti State with a special reference to Ado Local Government Area. It also examined the effect of financial services on business performance of SMEs, determine effect of non-financial services on business performance of SMEs, analyse the effect of membership on business performance of SMEs and investigate the effect of patronage of cooperative societies on business performance of SMEs in Ekiti State. The study employed primary sources of data, the primary sources was through fifty self-administered questionnaires of which ninety were retrieved and analysed using multiple regression model. The study revealed that financial services, non-financial services, membership and patronage of cooperative societies positively and significantly affect business performance of SMEs in Ekiti State. Based on the discovery, it was concluded that cooperative societies have positive and significant effect on business performance of small and medium scale enterprises in Ekiti State
