IMPACT OF CHARCOAL BURNING ENVIRONMENTAL DEGRADATION IN SOOL REGION: THE CASE STUDY OF LAS-ANOD DISTRICT SOOL REGION SOMALIA

Abstract The northern regions of Somalia are primarily composed of the self-declared autonomous region of Somaliland, as well as the semi-autonomous region of northern east Puntland. These regions are located in the northern part of the country and have their own local governments and administrations. Somaliland declared its independence from Somalia in 1991, although it is not internationally recognized as a separate country. Puntland, on the other hand, has a more limited form of autonomy within the federal structure of Somalia. The northern regions are known for their distinct cultural identity, historical sites, and strategic importance in terms of trade and maritime activities in the Gulf of Aden.
