Impact of Artificial Intelligence on Library Management and Services in Pakistan: A Case Study of Kohat District, KPK
AI has established itself as a revolutionary force that enables fundamental service adjustments in library management worldwide. The application of AI remains at its infancy level of development and execution within semi-urban areas of Pakistan including Kohat District in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KPK). This research investigates comprehensively how AI can effectively solve current operational problems that affect Kohat libraries. The current library operation demonstrates multiple ineffective points starting from slow manual cataloging techniques and lacking digital networks and continuing with diminishing user interest rates. AI technology consisting of chatbots along with machine-learning cataloging software and OCR systems demonstrate substantial capabilities to advance operational efficiency and user satisfaction within such libraries according to qualitative interview findings and in-depth case studies and thematic analysis. Different issues emerge as barriers toward complete implementation of these technologies. The integration of new technologies faces three key barriers which include financial problems and service limitations in existing infrastructure and users' reluctance toward technology innovation. Based on identified problems the study presents multiple recommendations. The recommended solutions to boost AI implementation in library systems include public-private alliances and localized training for AI technology adoption together with policy changes that suit specific local context needs.
