DEVELOPING RUBRICS FOR ASSESSING DISCOURSE COMPETENCE IN HIGH SCHOOL LEARNERS
This research focuses on developing rubrics for evaluating discourse ability among high school pupils. Discourse competence is an important component of communicative competence since it requires the capacity to organize thoughts, ideas, and phrases cohesively and logically in spoken or written communication. The proposed rubrics are intended to give a formal framework for measuring students' abilities in areas such as fluency, coherence, logical arrangement, and effective use of language features. Using these rubrics, educators can identify students' strengths and shortcomings, track progress, and provide focused assistance to help them improve their overall communication skills. This evaluation instrument also encourages critical thinking and promotes the development of practical language skills required for academic and social achievement.
