Development of a Next-Generation Overlock Machine for High-Strength Marine Nets
This report presents the results obtained within an industrial research and experimental development project aimed at creating a revolutionary overlock machine for sewing marine nets designed for collecting ocean plastics. The machine, designed by Buraschi Italia, represents a product innovation that overcomes the technological limitations of currently available equipment. It can process thicknesses up to 30 mm, tripling the operational capabilities of existing systems, and can utilize advanced materials such as Dyneema, Spectra, and Vectran. The implemented technological solutions ensure structural resistance, automation, and environmental sustainability, with a significant impact on the fight against ocean pollution. Validation has confirmed the predetermined objectives and opened new perspectives for industrial application.
