Telmatoscopus undetermined

Telmatoscopus sp. Unidentified species Remarks. The examined specimens fit the genus Telmatoscopus Eaton by presenting asymmetrical nodiform flagellomeres, with a pair of single-branched S-shaped ascoids, 14 th flagellomere with elongated apiculus, fourth palp segment striated, vein R 5 ending beyond wing apex, aedeagus plate-like, epandrium with two small apertures. According to Ježek (1989) and Bravo et al. (2011), Telmatoscopus is probably a polyphyletic genus, and most species belong to undescribed genera. With the revision of Telmatoscopus by Kvifte (2014), the neotropical species of the genus are placed out of it without proper placement into other genera. Thus, a review of the neotropical species and the delimitation of genera that encompass them is necessary to describe this species appropriately. For a while, we have been tentatively treating the Fernando de Noronha specimens in Telmatoscopus. Furthermore, it appears to be a new species that shares a distinctive feature in the male terminalia and spines in the plate-like aedeagus, with the species Telmatoscopus paranaensis Bravo & Souza and Telmatoscopus thompsoni Wagner, the latter endemic to volcanic islands in Central America. Abstract
