Rinder, Samuel (1823-1907)
This is a biography of Samuel Rinder, a British mariner and writer, whose travels led him to Peru during the Guano Age. His 1852 article ‘The Guano Diggings’ offered a rare, critical account of labour conditions on the Chincha Islands. Rinder later settled in Australia, where he became a civic figure and continued advocating for seamen’s rights.
