Multiple Research Cycles, One Grammar of Time: Navigating Methodological Debates in Comparative Historical Analysis
Political Science research is currently experiencing a new historical turn (Fioretos, Faletti, and Sheingate 2016; Jenkins and Rubin 2024; Collier and Munck 2022; Capoccia and Ziblatt 2010). Marcus Kreuzer’s The Grammar of Time: A Toolbox for Comparative Historical Analysis (2023) contributes to this salutary development in a twofold manner. On the one hand, Parts I and II of the book are designed as a textbook to introduce graduate students to the fundamental premises, concepts, and methods of Comparative Historical Analysis (CHA).
