A Review on Rumen Tympany
Rumen tympany is the excessive accumulation of gas in the rumen resulting in characteristic distension of the left dorsal abdominal wall, specially at the left paralumbar fossa. primary ruminal tympany (frothy bloat) is dietary in origin and occurs due to ingestion of legume and excessive grains. Secondary ruminal tympany (free gas bloat) occurs due to failure of eructation of free gas because of physical interference with eructation. (M. C. Sharma (ed), Mahesh Kumar (ed), Ravi Datt Sharma, 2009).
