DEVELOPMENT AND CHARACTERIZATION OF NIOSOMAL TRANSDERMAL PATCHES OF BREXPIPRAZOLE
Brexpiprazole is a type of atypical antipsychotic that can be used to treat schizophrenia and major depressivedisorder (MDD) in addition to antidepressants. The current study's objective is to develop and assessBrexpiprazole niosomal transdermal patches. Cholestrol and Tween 60 in various ratios were used to formulatethe niosomeal dispersions.Among all BN3 and BN4 were shown to have the smallest particle sizes, the best zeta potential, and the bestpolydispersity index in niosomal dispersions employing different surfactants. Tween 60 was used as thesurfactant in 15 different formulations (BNR1 to BNR15) after these formulations were further refined utilizinga central composite design. BNR8 was chosen to be included in the patch since it demonstrated the highestentrapment efficiency among them. Niosomal patches (BT1 through BT9) were subsequently evaluated, and theresults showed that BT7 performed the best. All things considered, these results demonstrate the stability andappropriateness of niosomal patches of Brexpiprazole for future research and possible therapeutic uses, as wellas their potential for sustained drug release.
