Assessment of Factors Affecting the Integration of Tsangaya Islamic Schools into the Formal System of Education
The integration of Tsangaya Islamic schools into the formal education system has become a significant focus in several regions, especially in West Africa. Tsangaya schools, which primarily teach Quranic studies and Islamic teachings, are deeply embedded in the cultural and religious fabric of many communities. However, the need to expand educational opportunities for Tsangaya students has led to efforts aimed at integrating these schools into the formal education system. This paper assesses the factors affecting the integration of Tsangaya schools into the formal education system, focusing on socio-cultural, policy-related, infrastructural, and educational outcomes. The study draws on existing literature, examining key challenges and opportunities for integration and provides recommendations for overcoming barriers to effective integration.
