Multicultural Education of the Younger Generation: Assessment of the Moral and Volitional Qualities Formation of an Individual (Based on the Sample of the Republic Of Tuva)

Multicultural education is one of the most relevant issues of modern education. The research focuses on the formation of multicultural competence in inhabitants of the Tuva Republic (Russian Federation). The analysis of research on multicultural competence, and related educational problems, shows that the socially important preschool period, basic for the formation of an individual, is studied insufficiently. The paper presents the results of studies of 5- and 6-year-old Tuvan children carried out in four pre-school educational institutions. The research results show a low or average level of understanding and perception of moral and volitional qualities of an individual in children and statistically significant correlations of the high level of understanding by girls (0.764) and children aged by 6 years old (0.699), as well as correlations of the low level of understanding by boys (0.786). The practical significance of the study lies in the applicability of its results to change the way children learn in pre-school institutions, change the emphasis on pedagogical training and teachers’ work with families, and introduce elements of multicultural training (foreign language competencies) and knowledge about different cultures to preschools.
